Why Paint in the Fall?

When you are planning your next home painting project, it’s important to consider the season. How will the temperature affect the paint application? What time of year will professional painters have more availability? Discover why fall is the best time to paint the interior or exterior of your home.

Perfect Temperature Conditions

In the fall season, temperatures are usually cooler and milder, allowing painters the ability to finish projects more easily without struggling in the heat. Simultaneously, paint is less likely to dry unevenly, creating a more aesthetically pleasing look. Summer temperatures in New England are often tropical, bringing a lot of humidity. This has negative consequences for paint, as it will impact the exterior paint application and slow the drying time. However, in fall, there is little to no humidity.

In regards to interior painting, cooler fall weather allows you to open windows during painting projects. This will keep you, the painters, and other members of your family safe from potential toxic paint fumes.

Less Rain

Rain often makes painting projects more difficult, and the spring and summer seasons are often predicted to have rainy days. However, there is usually not a lot of rainfall for New England in the fall, especially in 2024. This means that you won’t have to keep rescheduling projects due to impending rain in the forecast.

New Color Inspiration

The fall season is rich in colors from warm earthy tones like red, orange, brown, and green. These colors could inspire you to paint your home a nice earthy tone color. When visitors come to your home, they will feel welcomed by your warm and inviting colors. Plus earthy tones are one of this year’s 2024 themes for home exteriors.

Just in Time for the Holiday Season

While winter may seem like another good time to get painting done inside your home, it’s one of the busiest times of year for everyone. With countless holidays and trying to arrange moments for time with friends and family, it can be too difficult to schedule a painting project. However, if painting projects are done in the fall, then you’ll have all your projects done right before the holiday season. One big stressor will be out of the way and your home will look refreshed right in time for holiday parties and celebrations.

Flexibility

Oftentimes, spring and summer are busy seasons for painting companies, as customers think these two seasons are the best times to finish painting projects. When it hits fall, painting companies go through a slower period which gives you more of an opportunity to find an opening in their schedule.
